This course is designed for apprentices to meet their training requirements before they are allowed to work alone under NYSDEC regulations part 325.10(a). It includes the necessary documentation to be kept in the apprentice’s training file showing that they have completed core training plus the additional 40-hours of field training by a New York Certified Commercial Applicator.  

This course covers the following materials: Pesticide Applicator Certification, State Laws and Regulations, Federal Pesticide Laws, Toxicity of Pesticides, Ecological and Environmental Concerns, Personal Protection for the Applicator, Symptoms of Pesticide Poisoning, First Aid, IPM, Pests, Types of Pesticides, The Label, Formulation, Filling and Mixing, Equipment, Weather-wise Applications, Disposal, Storage, Record-keeping & Liability, Crop Hazards, and Protecting Water.

NOTE: Core training not covering ALL areas of Part 325.10(a) is invalid and may be subject to NYSDEC fines. This course is online and is available 24/7. True/False quizzes are given at the end of each section to enhance the student’s learning. This course is narrated and self-paced, with high quality images of insect and animal species as well as equipment.
