This course will allow a student who is NOT licensed to sit for the New York State DEC Core exam and Category 8 – Public Health Pest Control exam to become a licensed Technician. This course is NOT designed to allow licensed technicians or applicators to add a category to their license. If you have any questions, please call us at 845-481-4048.
After purchasing this course, a link will automatically be sent to your email and you can start immediately. Please follow the instructions carefully so that you get credit for the course. This course is in a Distance Learning format and approved by the NYS DEC as an Eligibility Course required to sit for the Pesticide Technician’s examination. Quizzes are given at the end of each section to enhance the student’s learning. Additional study material will be emailed to the student after completing this course This course is narrated and self-paced, with high quality images of insect and animal species as well as equipment.
PLEASE NOTE: As per the NYS DEC, students taking this course MUST complete it within 6 MONTHS of starting it. Failure to do so will result in having to retake the entire course from the beginning. Additionally, students can only spend a maximum of 7.5 hours in this course per day. After completion of this course the student will have access to their certificate in their learning management account. The certificate will also be emailed to the student immediately upon course completion.You must have your original certificate to take the NYS DEC exam.
Before sitting for the NYS DEC Technician exam, you will need a Core Manual and a Category Manual. These can only be purchased through Cornell Cooperative Extension by calling (844) 688-7620 or visiting their website https://store.cornell.edu/books/cornell-cooperative-ext-pmep-manuals?show=48.
